“Mother Earth” is a common expression used to refer to the planet Earth in various countries and regions, which demonstrates the interdependence that exists between human beings, other living species, and the planet we all inhabit.
The Earth and its ecosystems are our home. To achieve a fair balance between the economic, social, and environmental needs of present and future generations, it is necessary to promote harmony with nature and the planet.
We celebrate International Mother Earth Day to remember that the planet and its ecosystems give us life and sustenance. With this day, we also assume our collective responsibility, as the 1992 Rio Declaration reminded us, to promote this harmony with nature and Mother Earth.
This day also allows us to raise awareness among all the inhabitants of the planet about the problems affecting the Earth and the different forms of life that develop on it.
